I spent a week in Greenland, and brought among other cameras my MP.

Some of my exposures have weird lines on them which go vertically through the frame and vary in number and brightness. It does not seem to be consistent through a complete roll of film and some exposures from the film are just fine.

Also, some of the frames show half circular patterns at the top.

Can anyone tell me what caused these two things? I think maybe the vertical lines are on frames shot at medium slow shutter speeds like 1/60 and 1/30 but I cannot be completely sure. Mind you, the temperature was around -10 degrees centigrade.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks. :)

No idea. Shutter problem?

Do the half circle bits look like crescents? If so, it could be from stressing the film during loading or something.

Thanks for the ideas.

The weird thing is that the exposures are dead on, so it doesn't seem like the shutter was stuck. The frames maintain their 2x3 ratio, so it doesn't seem like the film was stressed. And the lines do not extend outside the frame.

I'm with Brian -- either a light leak from the back door or a problem with the metal strip on the leading edge of the shutter curtain.
