I've been having some trouble shooting with a 50mm lens on my Ikon, and wonder if anyone has come across a device to increase the viewfinder magnification and make the 50mm framelines bigger—something like the megapearls magnifiers that screw into the diopter thread on Leica cameras. All that empty space around them really distracts me, and I'd rather not resort to buying a whole new camera to fix this problem (50mm lenses are my favourite on SLRs, so I know I can use them).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks everyone! I had no idea that the nikon/epson/cosina finders were the same size. I wouldn't mind so much if I couldn't see the meter readout though; I would be no better off with an M3!

Sahe69: you can still see the 50mm framelines with this finder?

Yes, that's what I use it for (Nokton 50/1.1.) . Perfect for that in my experience. I don't use glasses though but would not expect even that to be a problem. You can even see the 35 mm lines, if I remember correctly, but not really comfortably.

Hi and sorry for the late reply

do the finders mentioned fits straightly in the ZI or do you need some kind of other interposer in the middle ? Actually at Japan Exposures only 1.15x and 1.35x magnifiers are available but they are sold for Leicas and I can't get if they can be plugged straightly on the ZI or you need something else in the middle.

And however.. also DG-2.. isn't too much for practical use? Consider I wear glasses..

The one that I have (see link above) fits directly after you remove the (zero) diopter glass, but unfortunately this magnifier is no longer available. I've no idea about the other solutions I'm afraid.

Thanks,
since it's the same manufacturer who does them, and only changing the magnification ratio, I assume they should fit as well.. My doubt was mostly about the fact they are both namely sold for "Leica Ms" which have a smaller finder than Zeiss Ikon.
