CZJ 5cm 1.5 ... OK?

The lens hood was stuck on my CZJ 5cm 1.5 lens. I tried to remove the stuck lens hood from the 5cm lens,and I had to use some gentle force to get this done. The lens hood would at first not come off, and instead, the front element would rotate but not screw off. When I was done,and when I screwed back the front element, the aperture settings do not match up with the "dot" that usually is at 1,5 or 16.Now, the dot is at 5,6 or to the right of 1,5.

Is the lens still focusing correctly or must I undo whatever I must have done? This was supposed to be my main lens for the Egypt trip. I may instead take another lens until I am sure that the CZJ focuses well. I took photos today at 1,5 to check out the lens.
 
I partially rotated the front part of the lens while I moved the focusing ring until the dot was on 16. I am back in business. I think.
 
I will get a roll of film developed to be on the safe side. Most likely,all should be fine since nothing was taken apart in the lens.
 
As with the J-3, the lens unit including the aperture ring unscrews from it's base as a complete unit. When screwing it back in you have to tighten it until the aperture numbers matches up with the dot again.

Otherwise, if I thought this out right, the focus will be a little shorter then the distance indicated on the lens (but should still match with the RF) and you'll have to play the game of 'guess-the-aperture'.

Brian may be hard to find. He promised to shoot photos rather than get technical for a while. 🙂 But I think you are OK, Raid. I had the same experience with an Industar-50 (on my Bessa) to which I gave my first lens CLA, with Brian's help. Focus was not an issue. And your meter will be correct whether it matches the aperture dot or not.
 
You should be fine. I set the lens so that F1.5 will line up at the Red Dot when it is properly shimmed. Shim first, then I set the aperture ring second. Tap out screws and put it back together.

So you think that since I have not unscrewed the front or emoved any parts that the lens should focus properly.

Thanks for the affirmation. I will try to get a roll of film developed and scanned any day to be on the safe side.
 
It should be fine. The optics module unscrews from the focus mount as a unit, the individual elements to not shift around. As long as the module is screwed back in, and the f-stops line up with the "dot" index mark on the focus mount, it should be fine. This happens to some of mine. It will not happen on a Contax mount lens as there is a set screw holding the optics module into the mount. But this is just not possible on an LTM focus mount, either original Zeiss LTM or a J-3.
 
Happened on my J8. I just left the aperture numbers incorrect — I never look at it anyway (I just count the clicks).

Focus should be alright.

My reason for tightening it was that the front element was literally rotating a few degrees whenever I tried to change the aperture. Sort of loose, so I twisted the black ring…
 
I have a WALZ UV filter stuck really good on my 57' Nikkor HC f2/50 and it won't come off, if I try the front element comes off....uggh!!! Glad it's pristine crystal clean *under* the filter, I have a adapter ring and a Leica IR/CUT filter on top of that now shooting with the M8 ~ JUST HOW DO YOU GET STUCK FILTERS OFF A LENS WITHOUT MESSING EVERYTHING UP?????

Tom,
I wrapped some Bounty paper towel around the lens, and I used a wrench gently to hold the lens in place while I rotated the lens hood.
