5000e - Is this repair possible?

I bought a Lynx 5000e not too long ago - very nice looking but I have recently discovered that the shutter dial will not move past 1/30 second - almost like something is blocking it internally. The seller tells me it was not like this when he sent it. I am willing to believe him and I don't remember the problem when I initally received it so the problem is mine.

Does anyone have a guess as to what might cause this and us this something I hobbyist can tackle? Would it involve taking the lens off?

Could it be something electronic, like the speeds below 1/30 s are mechanical and above are controlled electronically?

You will need to open lens, as shutter speed cam has got off guides. Shutter on Lynx is fully mechanical, thanks heaven. Dan Mitchell has nice page on repairing Lynx.
You can do it, sure, just don't go too fast if this your first DIY camera repair.

Dave, whenever I want to take a look, I hit "mitchell lynx 5000" into google search box (I rarely bookmark pages) - this returns

I wrote "if you have digital" simply because I got digicam very recently 🙂 my major repairs were backed by drawings and schemes. I have searched for pictures on web to find out details I haven't put down on paper.

All means of memorizing previous state are better than relying on memory.
