Lefty, Don't know why
Can't use right eye
But I am right handed, and kick with my right foot...
Go figure

Always used my left eye for shooting a rifle (even though I shoot right handed) and my nikon, but switched to right eye for the M6. Nice to finally get my nose outta the way. If you're trying to correlate with handedness - good luck. I eat and write righty, bat and throw lefty in baseball and play tennis and racquetball ambidextrous but tending to the right.

Always used my left until I got my M8 (first rangefinder). It basically forced me to switch, which I did with little trouble (surprisingly).

right eye, just seems weird to use my left eye because the camera is all in my face. if use my right eye with my leica, the camera is out of my face and feels more comfortable.

Left eyed, Right handed. Never attempted to shoot a rifle, probably for the best, seems very awkward when I envision it. I'm a lot more comfortable with the position of the finder on an SLR than on a rangefinder, for some reason.

Welcome, jow!

two weeks with Leica and I've changed from lefty to righty, but still with loupe in Rolleiflex I'm using left eye.

Right eye always, but keeps left eye open to get "the bigger picture" - I also shoot SLR (and shotgun, as well as live my life in general) with both eyes open...

I'm ambiocularous. But only because I feel like I have to be. Left eye is natural, right eye is for Leica Ms. Now that I've been shooting Ms for a while, I find I use my right eye sometimes for my DSLR.

I'm 80% lefty. Knife left, scissors right. I'm left eyed as far as I can remember, but my right eye's retina is f'd from childhood so I can't use it for aiming anyway.

I used to use my left eye on DSLRs as that way my nose fitted comfortably behind the screen, but I have been moving to the right eye lately, which has the best vision and is the dominant eye anyway.

When I play cricket (rare) I play left handed, I shoot rifles right handed and I write left handed.

Lefty, except for throwing/batting, but right- eye dominant. Which has been handy for both SLRs and RFs.

Had an Exakta VX-1000 that was very natural to use for a lefty.

Here is a fun thing i've found at LHSA.org

"To determine your eye dominance, extend your arm and point at a distant object with both eyes open. Then close one eye. If your finger remains on the object, that is your dominant eye. If it jumps to the side, it is not your dominant eye (the other one is). " credit Dick Santee

From this, I don't have a dominant eye, but I always use my left.

From the poll so far, it looks like slightly more photographers are left-eyed than right-eyed. It's curious that most cameras are designed for the right-eyed. Offhand I can only think of one camera designed for the left-eyed (and left-handed!), the Moskva series of RF folders and of course the Super Ikontas they were copied from.

I'm a lefty, but it really depends on what camera I'm using and how it sits in the hand.

RF's and SLR's are usually with the right because my right hand is the one holding the body. But I find in facing bright light, if I use my left eye I won't get much of that stray light getting into my vision.
Waist down works just as well with either eye.

We actually has this very poll posted on the school darkroom's blackboard. It was initially just a left/right choice, but then someone then added both to list...overall it was a pretty even split. Then the following week someone put up a Nikon/Canon poll and that was the end of polling. =P

I'm usually a righty, but when using my SLR I can say that I've used my left eye. The light conditions have to be pretty good for me to do so, though.
