I was out today with my Hexar RF; while scanning the film this evening, I notice on some vertical pictures (portrait-format) a light band, about 1/3th from the left (please see examples below). I can't notice it in pictures taken horizontally (landscape) and it's not noticable in every vertical picture.
Anyone an idea what went wrong ?

I may well be mistaken but I'd suspect a scanning problem. Can you see this clearly on the negative?

If its a scanning problem try moving the neg slightly for succesive scans and see if the line "moves". On second thoughts should make no difference between horizontal/verticle so kinda rule that out !. Hmmm. Gotta be a shutter problem.

Look at the negatives. Is it there?

No, it's not on the negative (I don't understand why I didn't think about checking this myself first
thanks,
Stefan.

Yes, Right There
I've seen a couple wacky things from my Epson 4490 when the glass gets dirty. The worst was a thin red line showing up on half the negs I scanned- and the same frames would have a line across them even if moved in the film holder, or taken out then rescanned later.
I tried a dozen things before (and it didn't really look dirty/dusty) spraying the glass down- that was my last ditch effort before giving up and crying myself to sleep that night.

FWIW, I'm using a Minolta Scan DUAL IV. I don't know whether I should hope it's a known problem or not ..
. I'll give it a new try this evening.
