Didn't, but now think I should have.

This is a fact, ask anyone who has done it.

... and ask any successful photographer, and there are legion, who uses multiple cameras/lenses. Your logic is statistically flawed, but that is the topic of many previous threads.

Yes you should have bought it. Why not... it looks like a sweet little camera. For $34 I don't understand the hesitation.

Its the (right) hesitation of an addict! Like one who drinks too much alkohol and is addicted to it shoudn't say - "what the hell, its only a SMALL glas of beer...!" Guess it depends on the point of view and the recognition of the personal theme: if I feel that buying and buying gear is hard to stop, esp.when I have more than enough - I should hesitate bargains. Although if I can afford it, there is nothing really unhealthy to be GAS adicted - but sometimes it might be more fun to stay with the loves you have and not stress yourself with anouther affair (well, isn't photography a great symbolism for life in general :D ???)

No, good boy Frank for resisting the evil of GAS. What you don't have, you don't need - if you would like to have it or not is a different question. It would most likely only have accumulated dust after two hours of fondeling, maybe a cleaning and at best 2-3 rolls of film. You did the right thing;).

You did the right thing. That was a decent price but not exceptional and the money is much better spent on film. Whoever is hoping for 160€ on one of these is either delusional, or waiting for a moron to come into his shop.

In fact, since you already have the simpler version, why not head out and shoot that one? (With an accessory RF, if you must)

My mistake. I must have missed the message that Frank is an addict. I always thought that Frank was just into extreme (if not abnormal) levels of restraint and self-control, whether it makes sense or not. :D

Oh, is he? Then he should go out and buy, BUY, BUY!
(well, and after that he can read my posts again :D)

I must admit that I am closer to the gear-buying addict end of the spectrum than the self-restrained and controlled end. I do see myself improving though. Before, I could never walk away from a good deal, now I can, sometimes.

If the camera had been a Retina II"S" instead of the II"F", I would have bought it.

You made a big mistake.
You should have bought it after negotiating the price to USD 29,-.
After that, a cold beer in a nearby bar or a coffee at the next coffee place would have made for a nice "look, what I stumbled upon on my latest trip - story" to share with us.

If in any doubt about it's usability and usefulness in your house hold later, I understand the camera to be in a condition, to easily turn it around for the same 29,-.

You made a big mistake.

:D

Had I been there I probably would have bought it, my resistance is on the weak side! I seem to have slowed down with buying cameras lately! But my head is easily turned when I see a jewel! I would like to have a good digital camera but I'm afraid to look!
