Just tried the 12mm on the R-D1 today...

I just got this setup (12mm LTM, 12mm VF, Filter holder Double shoe and Spirit level) this week (a plug for felix 5616 for giving me a great deal). I shot it with the M8 last night and was able to grab a couple of R-D1 shots while out running errands today.

I was using the 15mm Vf and the CV Spirit level it is really nice and truly a contraption to use. Hopefully next weekend I can shoot some film to see what wide is all about.

Now the question - who has a 12D finder to sell at a good price? 🙂

Here is my onlyist R-D1 shot so far not special, but I like it better than the M8 shots...

Here is the M8 with the setup, for comparison, with slightly better subject matter. The M8 shots seem more than 2-3 mm wider to me - maybe due to the edge distortion being revealed...

That first image with the Epson is superb ... not so sure about the M8 images though!

I agree with you that the RD-1 looks better.

Pretty sure this is to do with the different crop factors of each camera - the M8 is 1.33 and the R-D1 is 1.5, so the 12mm becomes a 16mm on the M8 and an 18mm on the R-D1.
 
I was actually thinking I may sell the 15 now - but I won't rush into it.

umcelinho - very nice shots, I know the 15 finder is usable for the R-D1, but I found I really like the little bit of extra accuracy I get with the 21D/21 combo, so if I find one at a good price I just might...

LCT - I used Lightroom here at the default settings, no corrections.
 
I did use the 15 a lot on my RD1s and now using the 12 on the M8.2. Like the 15 and 12 much better on the M8.2 since there is less light fall off and less cyandrift in the corners. With the 15 on the Rd1s I had so much cyan drift that I could only use it more cropped or for b&w. Further the 15 and 12 are much wider on the M8.2 since its smaller crop factor compared to the RD1s. Further the CV12 is considered a bit sharper than the CV15.

One of my last pictures taken with CV15 (on the M8.2) before I sold it to acquire the CV12:

The microlenses of the Leicas would be the only reason to buy an M8 or an M9 AFAIC. Superior results from the M8 here IMHO.
