Contemplating an M8 - What to look for?

Hi everyone,
Last year I bought my first M(M6 TTL) and love it. Now I'd like to enjoy the benefits of digital with M series too. An M9 is way out of my price range at present so it look like an M8/M8.2.
I have obviously seen the unfavourable press but alotof people are very happy now Leica have solved issues.
Your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you buy a used camera from a reputable dealer who will stand behind the purchase. I have both an M8 and an M9 and love them both. The M8 will take fabulous pictures. As I have the original M8 rather than the M8.2, I can't speak to the value of the enhancements in the M8.2. However, I think the best value will be found with a used M8 rather than a used M8.2. I have never had any problems with my M8 and I have carried it with me all over the world and taken thousands of pictures.

I wouldn't worry about anything. Just get a good one, and enjoy it. If it breaks, have it fixed. Leica seems to have taken good care of everyone who thought they had a bad one, and in many cases, they probably had bad lenses or needed new glasses...

1) buy from a dealer, WITH A WARRANTY.
2) when you get it, take some high-ISO shots with the lens cap on and examine the files VERY CLOSELY. Notice red or dead pixel lines. Send to NJ. Get sensor replaced for free.
3) Tell them not to put the crap covering back on, meanwhile order griptac or something from cameralether.
4) Get camera back, shoot!

I love the M8, hope you will too. JUST CHECK THE SENSOR! Better yet look for one that has already had the sensor replaced.

I just took some shots with the lens hood on at iso 2500. There seem to be a lot of red dots, could you say if this is a poor sensor?
