Got a great deal on a 28mm Elmarit asph. last weekend, but it doesn't come with the front cap. Does have the hood and it's cap, but I definitely like the idea of mostly using it around without the hood: it's just so tiny.
So I guess I figured out which hood I need, I believe the 14285 part is it. However, I'm finding prices from 20 to 50 euros and apparently both metal and plastic caps for that same part number! Metal is obviously preferred! opflash has one, says 'metal' explicitly and I might have to spring for that if I can't find anything cheaper or European.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good deal?

14038 is the metal slip-on cap that goes directly on the lens. 14043 is the plastic cap for the hood. 14285 is the hood cap for the 50mm elmar-m.

hmm, popflash is the only place i can find that describes the 14285 as the hood cap for the 50mm elmar-m as well as the lens cap for the 28mm elmarit asph and 90mm macro, but if it fits, it fits!

I also have the Elmarit 28 ASPH: an E39 press-on cap of any vintage will serve. I tried a black aluminum ('70s era) and a heavy chrome ('50s era), both felt-lined. The included cap is nice, but not worth any premium.
