Haha! I really agree with your comment. Being a chinese, I have to admit I am really shame when the first time I know this rubbish is for China, especially it is with the title of limited edtion for the Anniversary of China. Nobody would like it. Why Leica introduce this kind of ugly design and stupid idea for China? You guys don't like it, Chinese neither. Honestly, most of leica's speical editions are meaningless and not beautiful(especially when the leather with strange color which doesn't match the metal parts of body). The only deference is engrave or color, mechanism is the same. Why pay so much more money on it? As a Chinese Leica user(both M and old III), I personally prefer the classic chrome look in 1950s. Even the late silver M6 is not that attractive.

I guess one advantage is: it's so “eugh!”, no one'd bother trying to steal it. But if you're a street photog, all the people's faces in the photo will be that of “eugh!”.

Not to offend anyone, but gold and red together…seriously overused (not on a camera though). They may have symbolic links, but whoever decided to put them together…wasn't thinking, to say the least. And that red fabric in the box…sigh.

It is a thousand year tradition in China to give gold during special occasions, akin to giving someone a gold watch after decades of service. You can get more common items in gold plate for this purpose like Mont Blanc pen, watches, simple trinkets, etc. Gold cameras are not made or bought to use.

these aren't official special editions by leica.
they are manufactured by leica on demand of schmidt marketing (leica's asia distribution).

hahahahaha................ I cant help but laugh at that comment. Who would have imagined communism is good for business? It sure is here!

And I have bad news. I have actually seen one of these things a while back, they are so tacky. The Commie red case it was in at the shop didn't help either, it was not like this wood case, it was like a red box with a star on it, could have been a custom job......but yeah.....

The "censorship" on this site is definitely something else. Complain about CV or Zeiss, create your own handmade straps or talk sh!t and it's toast. I think some mods may have too much time on their hands... 😉
