I developed my first rolls this year, and there is just something about creating the images, and then following through with the rest of the process, and having it work, that is satisfying.

I developed my very first roll just a month or so ago (have made prints in the past, but never hand-developed film, oddly). A great feeling. Odd that in 35 years of photography this is the first roll I've personally developed.

I just prosessed my first roll of film in 20 years myself. Also a first on my DIY camera, I had the screaming heebeejeebies. Turned out ok/nok. Exposure and developing seem to be ok, but camera has a light leak, or I'm clumsy when loading or unloading the 120 film.

But boy is it fun

Thank you all for your encouragement. And yes, buck fever means an adrenal surge and shaky hands, which, in my case, means double shaky. But I got the negs snipped and in their little jackets. Tonal range looks very good ... 🙂

Congratulations and welcome back into the fold. I agree with all of the above comments that it is indeed magical. I was n your shoes a year ago, although it had been not quite 20 years since I developed my own film. Have fun.

Well, Walgreens' scanner computer said my negatives are too "light" and will not scan. They look dense enough to me, with excellent range. Could be their scanner just cannot read non-C-41 film. Rats ...

Paul they just don't know what they are doing. Before they quit I took my negatives to WalMart to scan to a CD & they came out fine. I've had no problem with any of my b&w film I've developed & had scanned. I'll give you a hint to remember. Don't cut the negatives. They prefer to run the whole strip through the machine.

Yeah, I'll probably not cut the next roll. Walmarts around here do not scan to CDs. Rats, rats, and double rats ...

Congrats......I did my first roll about 8 months ago. The learning curve is not steep at all. I now average 3-5 rolls a week of 35 and 1-2 of 120 all done at home.

The killer for me is scanning, then lightroom then files blah, blah, blah.... all part of the fun!

Not only am I saving $$$ but I am DOING somthing. Digital is not the same at all; this is sooooo much more fun 🙂 This is why I take picture; to have fun!
