Jupiter 3 on m43?

If it is LTM, you can get an LTM to u4/3rds adapter from Ebay, chinese made. I have an M-Mount adapter from the same seller that also offers the LTM version.

If you have a Contax mount lens, Amedeo makes an adapter that can be used.

there are LTM-mu4/3 and also Contax-mu4/3: I have an LTM one, made in Italy from Adriano Lolli (www.adrianololli.com) that's really well done. If you look at his catalogue, it's huge. Sadly, the Contax-mu4/3 is a bit expensive for my pockets...

I have used the J-3 on my M8 a lot.

I will be trying it on the EP2 soon enough.

Jim,

The image of the book/paper above works well with its minimalism, and there is just a natural feeling of depth to it. I'm not sure if that's from the great lighting or just what that lens is bringing to the table. In either case, its very nicely done.

Well it probably wasn't my fault. Whatever the reason, I will accept the compliment. Thanks. Have now affixed my Zeiss 50/1.5 that Brian converted to LTM.

The J3 is indeed a very nice lens on a Panasonic (or Olympus as well)! Ihave made some lovely shots of my doughter before and after hairdressing. Just for fun and to try this lens. The photos came out great.
One thing I understood when handling this lens: it will probably shine on M43 much more than on film - focus-shift is very apparent and that is obviously not a problem with M43, but might ruin lots of closeup pictures on film!
I even think, that most J3-lenses that are considered "soft" might work well on a Pana...
I have this lens for a long time and again and again read these focus-shift-comments. Have not really understood the thing until now!

Best,
Tmas

The J3 is a cult lens in the film world - at least for those without vast sums of expendable income. I've used it on all my LTM and M cameras, from a Leica M4 to a Fed 2 and it is wonderful, if you own a good example that has been properly aligned. I have a set on Flickr dedicated to it, used mostly on film cameras, but 2 or 3 on the Pen E-P2.

A great lens, sonnar design.

The J3 looks like a nice mate to the Oly m4/3 cameras. Nice shots.

I'm going to take the Canon 50mm 1.5 sonnar out for a spin in the next week or so and see how it looks. From the few images I've taken with it so far, I'm pleased. I wonder how close the Cannon Sonnar is to the J3, and if I could have saved a few hundred for similar performance and put it on a 9-18 or 7-14 ;)

A couple of years back I would've paid a bundle for that Canon. It is one of the finest 50's out there. I borrowed one and immediately wanted one, but none showed up. I ended up with a Carl Zeiss Jena 50/1.5 sonnar from 1938, uncoated converted from Contax mount to LTM. It's as good, if not better than the Canon, but being uncoated, has a distinct "look" to it.

If I wasn't already swimming in 50mm lenses, I'd still be looking for one like yours. It is CERTAINLY a better made lens than the J3. If I'd have bought one, I'd be very happy, and no regrets. Be happy with it.

It really is a sweet lens. I wasn't prepared for how heavy and solid this lens is. Its not a bad trait, just wasn't expecting it after handling all the modern light weight plastic lenses. This is definitely a quality chunk of brass and glass. I'm very pleased with the results I'm getting from it, and it was a very clean used lens. I couldn't be happier that I found it since I don't see them around as often. And I won't say how much I paid for it, since it was probaly more that what it was worth. But I wanted it ;)

They're going for a pile nowadays... it's why I gave up. Yours is just a fine looking specimen. Looks right at home on the Pen.

If you get a good J-3, and my best have been from the 1950s, it's hard to see any difference. On a rangefinder camera, the J-3 AND Canon 50/1.5 must be shimmed for best performance at F1.5. On a u4/3rds camera, the shim is not as critical as you view through the lens.

Now- for the EP2, the Nikkor 5cm F1.4 in LTM will focus to 0.5m. My J-3 modified for close-focus gets to 0.8m.
