Leica LTM finally I bought a IIIF SN824XXXX

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Looks like a great deal for one with a self timer, considering that the Summarit comes with it as well as the ever ready case. Congratulations!

Cheers,

Looks good, congratulations. Since you provided the link and I have always wondered... I have to ask:confused: Why do people bid and bid and bid on something days before the auction ends? You just help to drive up the price of what you want. It only matters to have your name as highest bidder when it ends:) Figure what is the highest you are willing to pay and confirm your 1 bid seconds before it ends. You will win more and pay less. Just some friendly advice:cool:

Dear chris7521, thanks for your advice.

The auction had a reserved price of USD500. The first several bid from me was to test the reserved price.

And thanks for all kind comments too.

I hope you enjoy it. I've been using an earlier IIIf RD (no ST - 66xxxx) for a year now with a Summitar & dearly love it. There is something deeply aesthetically pleasing about shooting with one.

Good light!

William

IIIf's are pretty. Congratulations and welcome to the club!

Thanks, William and Ray,

It's not my first IIIF. I have several IIIF and a IIIG. Although IIIG is a much better than a IIIF alone as a real user because of the VF, I find myself like the form of IIIF more. And I have the 35,50,90 leica BL finders. They will be great match for a IIIF.

Hello Robin,

Yes, the #824XXX series IIIFRDST are one of the "coveted" LTM cameras, they have the advanced shutterworks of the IIIG and are the HYBIRD of the IIIF line.

Great price too, the lens is worth $400+ if it's in minty glass condition, it's a great combo for shooting :)

Enjoy!

Tom

Dear Tom,

Thanks for the info. I have read same info somewhere online but can't remember where. You know, Leica made some many small changes in IIIF's long run and few documents (at least available online) to record them.

The summarit is a great lens, but too big for my typical use of a IIIF. I will mount my red scale elmar on it instead.

Cheers,
Robin

Now the baby is here, with my Red Scale Emlar. The shutter is crispy than my other IIIF, more like the IIIG's feel.

CLAed by Youxin Ye, now it's my daily setup.
