Hi everyone,

I know there are a lot of Fomapan fans here, and I'm certainly one of them. For a few months now Foma 200 has been my standard black and white film. I just love the tonality it gives - especially in MF. I'd love to hear your recipies for developing it, both at 200 and at 100.

I don't hear a lot of talk about Ilfosol 3 here, and it's probably the most readily available developer for hobbyists here in the UK, so I thought I'd kick start things with my very basic routine for it and Foma 200.

For F200 at EI 100: Ilfosol 3, 1:14 for 5 mins and 30 secs. Agitate for first minute, then first ten secs every minute after.

Here are some of my results; please post your recipies and scans!

I gather Roger soups it in Pyro and I have taken to the same on account of his results.

I Rodinal it, like I Rodinal everything else: 60mn stand...

But I think I will start and move way from both stand development and Foma200.

for my part, as someone new to pyro, I used the massive dev chart @100.

Well stand development is 1:100 Rodinal or equivalent ( I use R09 ).

Presoak 5mn.
Pour developer in.
Agitate 1mn.
Let stand for 59mn.
The rest as per your preference.

It's not a method I recommend though.

I'm giving up Foma because I'm trying to streamline my films used across formats. I can't use Foma in my Rolleiflex. Even the new 120 rolls stick and jam it up. It's a shame. 200 is a great film and 100 is magical but I think for slow needs I will settle for either Acros or maybe Plus-X...Or if I feel adventurous, maybe even Efke/Adox 50?

m.

p.s: I have a whole bunch of Foma200 in 35mm, interested?

EI 200 (partial metering), DD-X (1+4) for 5 min. at 20 degrees Celcius, 10 sec. agitation per minute.

I love Fomapan's films, but like Martin, I've had the film stick way too many times to my Rolleiflex ( every time, actually ) to ever use it in 120mm again.

I usually soup it in Rodinal 1:50 for 9 minutes, but I rate it at 160 EI.

Shoot at 200, develop in Rodinal 1:80 for 18 minutes, 70F with 4 or 5 gentle agitation cycles.
35mm negatives are clear and dry flat, perfect for scanning.

Does anyone use foma 200 @ EI 100 with rodinol?

Does anyone use foma 200 @ EI 100 with rodinol?

I just don't know the times to aim for....

Rodinal here too. But there is a different Fomapan 200 now- that I've not tried. There was something in the old formulation that had to be removed.

I have a stock of the old for which I am trying to work out the rodinol numbers.
