The Official RFF FIFA World Cup 2010 Thread

40 years I have supported those fellas with unwavering conviction. They deserve every ounce of respect I can muster!

Another star for the jersey is coming!

All my fears were based... Germany so superior to Argentina! Congratulations! You deserve your fourth world cup! Incredible team!

Cheers,

Juan

Thank you Juan. I really feel the Germans aren't necessarily more talented than the Argentines. It's that they ran harder and were more efficient. Maybe it's the young legs?

I agree, both teams showed man to man they have talent and were playing better than any other team in the championship. To match that with such a high level of execution on the part of Germany....WOW!!!

The most convincing win of this cup.
Congrats to the German team. Kloss is a machine. I have to admit I never liked him (it's been 12 years as I recall...) but he is a scoring machine. What a day for the young german team.

Germany absolutely deserved the win. They're very good indeed, they out-thought and outfought their opponents today. I totally blame Otamendi for being goal-side of Mueller for the first goal that put Argentina on the back-foot right at the beginning of the match. Argentina got a grip in the later stages of the first half but once Germany scored the second goal it was all over.

Credit to Argentina for being gracious in defeat, unlike Brazil yesterday.

Whenever the German team replaces older players with young players, it usually takes a few years to get back in the rythm of winning big games, but it seems that this team is already peaking. There have been many games in the past where a team would slow down the game in the second half after being ahead, and fans would boo them.Today's game was very different. It will leave some bad blood between Germany and Argentina since it was an embarassing massacre. Many will say that there was no need for such a killing.

I can`t remember having seen a German team playing football that well in the past 20 years .... Congrats to the German team ! :)

Team play will always beat individuals in football, but Germany today showed real class. I hope they go on to the World Cup, because they are by far the best team.

It is sad that Argentina could not play as a team - they have one of the best leagues in the world.

Maradona is an emotions guy, not a tactics guy. He did extremely well until today, where he came up against an underestimated but very professional coach in Loew. Germany will be tough to beat.

You cannot play 110mph football all the time at this level and win. The concept of tempo is foreign to many fans but it's a weapon that many good teams utilize whether the average fan realizes it or not.

Oh, this "kindergarten" showed such a great team spirit and Podolski couldn't stop giggling and grinning in the interview after the match!

We shall see - we're among the four best teams now and each team is determined (and deserves) to win the World Cup!

But two more shows like that and, yes, it will be the fourth star.

Huub,
Germany - Netherlands? Like back in '74? ;)

Cheers,
Uwe

Oh yes. This is was so nice.
Our chancellor was there and how she enjoyed it. She benefits from our team when winning because she has some political trouble here.

I would say Maradona's behavior leading up to the match warranted the score.

You're so right, Peter... German soccer is precisely the most dangerous styled one against Argentina... They don't give any of the space and time Argentina need... The americans could have beaten Brazil and Spain, but not Germany... If they played this game again five times, I think the Germans would win them all... Messi's tears will be hard to forget, though... World cups are so wild!

Cheers,

Juan
