In response to Filmfan's comment and subsequent replies, I personally find that while there is a natural 'high tide' and 'low tide' (if I can refer to it in such a way) week to week the thing that never fails to stop me in my tracks with this thread is its ability to throw up something I've failed to notice or appreciate fully, more often than not because the image is not initially the kind of subject matter that interests me. If my eyes can be opened further or my horizons/influences broadened then I'm very happy...and this thread does tend to do that. I imagine that Filmfan must feel similarly as he contributes fairly regularly, more often than I have done in recent months...maybe years, and his initial comment was simply taken as a little brusque.
The strength of this weekly thread, IMO, comes from the variety of images that are displayed in the gallery as much as any actual 'quality threshold'
