Lumix DMC-LX2, should she keep it?

Hi there,

I don't know much about P&S. A friend of mine, who has been shooting Nikon gear, wanted to sell her Lumix. I say she should keep it.

I say should she should keep it, because it's light and she has back problems and also it is a little camera that you can use without a "live view" function, i.e. it still has a finder in it.

Since I bought my Ms I haven't looked at my Nikon stuff. But there's no way in heck she's gonna use anything but a DSLR as the high quality option. Anyway, I find the little Lumix quite ok, and in some cases would suffice where the "big guns" are just overkill!

So what do you think? Should she keep it?

Are you sure it has an optical viewfinder, or maybe you are confusing model names?
The LX2 has no finder but is still a very interesting compact with some great manual features including a neat manual focus system. It's a keeper!

Ah, yes, you are right.

When we looked at features, the finder was one of the things we wanted, but the Lumix doesn't have this...

I've thought about picking up one of these as a 'keep with me' camera but decided against it. If you and she are happy with the quality of the images that the camera produces then it is a 'keeper'. Reviews etc. seem to give the impression of image 'noise' above average and rather obvious in 10 x 8 prints sort of size.
