Summilux 35mm pre-asph photos

35 lux pre asph - I prefer the separation of tones and focus @ F2.8 with this particular lens. If I want specifically want F1.4 I usually use the 35/1.4 ASPH. Often I carry both lenses with me and switch lenses to capture my subject matter at both apertures. I wish the earlier lens would focus at 0.7m but one can't have it all.

The first version (steel rim) enjoys its reputation. I checked many album showing its result. Since I do not own a 35 'lux before, it would be unfair to comment on the lens. Would anyone please explain the uniqueness of it?

They are all velvia50 except the kid on the bike is provia400x and the last one b&w is tri x pushed to 800.
