Hi all,
It has been a while; finally traded in the contax slr kit that was collecting dust.
I wish I still had the time for film but life has gotten the better of me.
I really like this little camera and the fact that everything is TTL is nice. The instant nature of digital suits me at this point in my life….to a fault. However, I do not like digital camera menus for the most part, so I have run the gf1 point and shoot so to speak. I am really looking forward to some zeiss zm glass to get a more analog feel to the camera. The focus by wire of the kit lens is useless in my opinion and I have used autofocus for all of my shots so far.
For the most part the full auto thing is not my style....but....it works very well for children as they do not sit still very long, if at all.
Here are some good points:
Very nice feel and handling, small size, great display screen
Use of m mount lenses (or others) with adapter for a more “analog” like process
Able to change ISO at will
Everything TTL, good for macro and other specialty uses, when you shoot B/W you see B/W
Ability to use as a high quality point and shoot for family pics
Easy for “others” to use (wife, kids, etc)
The pictures below are all iso100, AWB (edit, i think the one of my son w the shirt over his face is iso400), "standard" color and b/w setting, auto exposure and focus, all jpegs right out of the camera.
I use the EVF and for me it is a must, it takes some getting used to but works well for composition. I cannot comment on focus with it yet.
All in all I am very happy with the set up. I hope the pictures below demonstrate the ability of this kit to work well under many conditions.
Thanks
Kevin

Great camera eh? I've had mine for some 8 months now and it's a dream with Kern-Switar, Contax G and Nikon Ais lenses.
