I recently acquired a Minister D that seems to be in excellent shape in regards to cosmetics and (thankfully) shutter speeds. The only issue I'm having is the Exposure Value button. I have to press it in rather hard to get the needle on the gauge to move. Basically, I'm having to "hit" the button with my thumb. After I get the needle to work the first time, it's fairly responsive immediately after if I release and press the button again.. but that never lasts very long. Could this be something as simple as dust or a dirty connection on the other side of the EV button? I plan on getting a CLA on this beauty in the coming months since I live within driving distance of Mark Hama, but I was hoping to get a few test rolls out of it before then. I'm afraid I'm going to damage something internal by continuing the rough-housing of this button. Any ideas/suggestions?
I searched to see if this issue had already been answered, so forgive me if this is a dead horse question.

Close relative of Minister, Lynx series, have inductive tracks inside lens barrel which get worn and dirty over time. Button also may develop contact issue. Have fun with camera while you haven't taken it to Mr. Hama.
My personal belief is meters on such old cameras aren't too exact and I end up guesstimating or using external meter anyway. Some people report getting proper readings, though.

Thanks for the reply. I completely agree with what you say about the inaccuracy of the meters on such old cameras. I don't expect the world from them, but I like to at least give them a try. I was lucky once, with a TLR (YashicaMat LM) I had CLA'd by Mr. Hama. He was as surprised as I was that the meter was working at all, much less working properly. For how long? Who knows. Thanks again for the information. I'm very much looking forward to getting to know this little lady.

Yeah, I still use film...
I agree about the meters...
I always recommend the use of a decent hand-held. I use a Gossen Super Pilot myself. Excellent results!

Thanks Russ. Now I know what's next on my shopping list. I picked up an old Kalimar A-1 meter this past weekend, but haven't really put it to the test as of yet. I'll test it against my Canon's meter tomorrow and see how/if they agree. I checked eBay, and the meter you use seems quite reasonable, so that's also a great option. I swear it's simply not possible for me to have a cheap hobby.
