Older style hood on new 35'cron

I'm wondering if it's possible to fit an older style round lens hood on to a new 35 'cron ASPH. Purely for the aesthetics.
Has anybody tried this or have any suggestions?

Well I just tried it out. I have v.1 pre-ASPH with 12571J hood and an ASPH with the 12526 hood.

They are interchangeable, but the 12526 hood is a very tight fit on the pre-ASPH. And the 12571J hood looks kind of ridiculous on the BP ASPH...
