Dungeness - new photo book published

Interesting layout - at present I'm trying to put together a picture book, a first time with BLURB so to see other efforts is very valuable. I wonder about the location of the photos because in the preview I see no captions to the photos. This must have been something you thought about and discarded - I'm now curious about this.
From what I can see there are some super photos and a balance between b/w and colour.
I think you must be pretty pleased with the result - I would be.

Personally I think that the square b/w photos work best, however I'm not so sure about "a balance of b/w and colour" as I always find it a bit disconcerting to move between the two. My preference would be to choose one or the other.

The preview is great already, your square images look incredibly well composed (the others, too, but those especially). I'd love to point out a few I really liked, but they lack page numbers.

//EDIT: I just checked your website, man you're good. Very good stuff.

I guess no captions because they are all Dungeness, Europe's largest expanse of shingle.

Great pics, Nick.

Thanks for the comments

I don't like writing captions if I can help it... but here instead I wrote a short introduction about the area and what drew me to it photographically. And as said above, as they are all within the same small area of Dungeness I decided it was not necessary to add more.

For this book I tried the larger square format. The book is thus 12" x 12" - hence it's a bit more expensive than otherwise. All the clack and white photos are taken with 6 x 6 medium format and 50mm wide angle lens, and I was composing in squares. When I saw the negatives I decided the composition worked and I should try the large square format book. I think it works

This is really a very nice book, thanks for sharing! For me the tour around the English coast is one of the biggest dream-journeys that I hope to accomplish in years to come.

Lovely shots. You are lucky: you have a great eye as well as the technical skills to illustrate waht you perceive. All the best and keep posting your work for us to enjoy.

Its always good to see folks putting books together- nice shots as well, motivates me to get my act together.

Perhaps it is just the selections in the preview, but to me, having never been there, I feel cheated. There are too many photos of houses or random things, like the glove on the stick, trailer, lighthouse, without additional context, that could be anywhere in the world.

They are nice photos, but I don't understand the title. Perhaps it should be called "Randomness in Dungeness"
