I got 4 rolls of tmax 100 donated. I am wondering what is the best method to find out what is the iso to shoot it at ?

Shoot at iso: 50, 64, 80 and 100
and develop at 64 iso ?

thanks

Shoot it at a 100. I've been using portra 800 that is around the same time and ended up over exposing when i rated it at 640 and 400

I have TMAX expired in 2004, i use same box speed 100, developed, and the results are very fine, even expired Delta 100 in 2005, also came out fine at same box speed iso, i was worry about expired film, but when i tested 2 so far, i never worry to shoot at any iso i want as it is a fresh one.

I shot Trix 400 that expired 20 years ago at 1600 once. They came out rather nicely with some charm. 😉 So yeah, go for it. 😀

thanks for all post and suggestions.

I developed the 2005 expired film with an ei of 100, and developed it in microdol-x for 8.5mins at 30C (tap water temperature). The pictures came out better than I expected, I would cut down on the development time in future to perhaps 8mins.

The picture below was taken on the m4 with summarit 50mm 1.5f lens. The metering was done with the sekonic l208 with the average of reflective and incident measurements.

Default scanner settings were used, and the picture was heavily cropped.

thanks again.

Where in the world are you with tap water temperature of 30C? It's winter here at the moment and the tap water temperature is about 12C which means lots of warming before I develop. But even in mid-summer when the outside air temp is up to 40C (or beyond) the tap water temp doesn't get much above 20C.

on a related note, I'm shooting some tri-x from 1993...which makes it almost 17 years old. any tips on what EI I should shoot it at?

Along with what others have said raytoei@gmail I would rate it at 100, at least to test. I have been using up an small stock of HP5 and Neopan discovered in an old camera bag dated 2004 and it has been working out perfectly when rated and developed normally, despite being stored at the top of an airing cupboard for five years (so very warm)!
