I think your formal sense of composition is fairly strong as we see in MOMA garden from inside. I also think that your more successful images are closer as is Bus Rider. Sleeping man would have been much better a few feet closer. His tough life also suffers from the same problem.

I talk about crossing the critical distance a lot. I think it's what separates great photos from average ones. It's nice to see you out and about shooting. Keep it up!

One should always take criticism with a grain of salt. I simply want people to improve and push their boundaries... I think that is the point of a forum like RFF...

Again, I agree with your critique. This is especially true for Sleeping Man; it would have been so much better a couple of feet closer.

Take it slowly, an extra step can make a big difference. Even I sometimes don't want to feel like I'm "intruding" and often don't take a picture. But when I do make that decision I make a point to try to get the best image I can and try to put my discomfort aside.

The nice thing about NYC is that I think it is a bit easier to shoot on the street, especially with a Leica. Our society teaches us from an early age not to get in other people's personal space so it takes quite some time to get over that.

I think your eye is very strong, just keep shooting and work on getting a bit closer. Thanks for sharing your images!
