After months of watching and half hearted bidding I went all-in today on a mint, really mint, Contax T.... and won. Now I need this camera like a hole in the head, as I have a love my T3 for compact film work, but I had an absurd hankering for this camera.

Simply put, I think the design is incredibly cool and it was a "had to have it" moment.

Sooooo, I'm looking forward to getting it next week and putting it through it's paces. Any sage advice from current or past owners for a new member of the club?

Ps- I hear the film transport is the area you have to be careful with.

I say: handle it with the modicum of respect it merits, and you should be fine.

(I've had a Tvs for over a year, and silly-love the thing.)

Well, there we go again ... you know what just happened ?

- I read the message about Contax T
- I don't have a clue what a Contax T is so I look it up
- I fall on Dantestella's site
- and now I have GAS .....

THANK YOU VERY MUCH :bang: !

And good luck with it :). The description first made me think of the Petri Color 35 (because of the size), but the pictures remind me of the Minox because of the "door" and with the flash attached, to the Olympus XA ..

Stefan.

Stefan,

Sorry about inducing the GAS attack. These little buggers are just so cool I couldn't resist. Let me know how yours is once you get one ;-)

You mean to tell us you're only "getting the drill" on this just now??

(Oh...and, your're welcome.) ;)

Congrats, you'll love it. I use and greatly enjoy the T3, but when you need a hole in the head, the original T is worth the pain... I have three of them! Given their small size, manual focus, AE, quiet leaf shutter with zero shutter lag, these cameras are the ultimate street shooters. You even get a DOF scale and hyperfocal marking for f/8. The optical RF is more than adequate. Film advance is fine, but film loading is a small adventure. Be aware that the "titanium" build is a myth: the pot metal dents if you look at it funny.

Stefan,

If you work hard and value your money, then NEVER, and I mean NEVER, click on a kdemas thread. He is the devil.

I know this from very expensive experience. He talks about a camera or lens (or even worse - he let's you try it out ) and the next thing you know you are spending hours bidding recklessly on eBay.

He has excellent taste in photo gear, I'll grant you that, but you must stay strong and resist. :D

Ok, I'll stay strong and resist, starting tomorrow (there are some on eBay this evening) :p

It will be good to see it.

I borrowed one for a lunchtime many years ago when I was a student working weekends in a camera store.
I remember how beautifully well made that little camera was, and also how outstanding the image quality was.
I'm sure I still have some of the photos I took with it of Edinburgh in cherry blossom season and the of the grassmarket.
But back then I could not even dream of owning one.

Congrats on the Contax T.
I use a Contax T2, and I like using it.
It is often my travel back-up camera.

Crikey, I had no idea what these little numbers went for. Shoulda bought two of them, back in the day. Coulda oughta.

The mailman just showed up with a package! What a beauty this thing is, I can hardly wait to shoot it. I have to run down and get some batteries after work.

I'll post some shots from my first roll when I get them done. The camera is really shockingly small for a RF design, wow. I have an XA as well which is very tiny but the rangefinder in this camera is much more usable. Then again, it should be for the price!

Anyway, very happy here! Nothing like a new toy on a searing hot day.

I had one. Cool camera. But in the end I used my $20/yard-sale XA more; which is not Porsche designed, unfortunately :)

Can't wait to see it. Many moons ago, it was down to a Rollei 35S and a Contax T for me. I chose the Rollei (and still have it), but always wondered about the Contax. I'll bring my Rollei on the 18th. It's the ultimate user.

I loved my Rollei 35 (German Tessar) until the film advance totally gave up. Oh I miss it so much. It was the ultimate street shooter.
