Has anybody here had any experience with the B+W neutral density filters on their Leica? 50 & 35 Summicron in my case.
I'm looking at getting a couple of 0.6 2 stops so as I can shoot wide open on bright days with my preferred emulsions.
Opinions and advice appreciated as always.

Steve.

Hey Steve. I use the B+W ND filter all the time on my 50 1.0 Noctilux.
Like you said, when you want to shoot wide open there is little other choice.

I use them all the time, Steve, ND 4x, 8x, even 64x, sometimes. B+W or Hoya HMC, in several sizes, including 39mm on my Summicrons.

Here is a recent B+W ND8 (i.e. ND0.9) shot with a tele at f1.8:

Generally contrast only starts changing from ND8 and up. Until ND4 you won't recognize color difference, etc.

try two linear polarizer filters together (hoya or kenko). you can get a variable ND from 4x to 100% blackness by rotating the front one.
