Olympus OM prism replacement

Is it possible to replace a light seal foam damaged prism from an OM1 or OM2 with a good prism from an OM10?

I saw a seller on the auction site claiming this could be done. Anyone try it? This might be a good solution for a damaged prism from an OM1 or OM2 since the OM10 can be inexpensive.

I just move an OM2 prism into an OM1. Not hard, just watch the cables.

John replaced the prism of my OM-1 during a CLA and the cost of the prism was only $50.00 which I thought was pretty reasonable.

My OM1 falls in the serial number range of cameras that were built without foam. My OM2n is a very late 2n that looks and functions as new. I agree that John is the one to go to for the OM repairs. His repair and CLA prices are very reasonable.

I am just thinking ahead and not sure if I want to attempt this repair myself, should it become necessary.

I did just this with my original (1974) OM-1, which suffered the dreaded foam rot. I picked up an OM-10 off EBAY, being sold for parts ($15!). I extracted the prism (in perfect condition) and sent it with my OM-1 to John H. for a CLA and prism swap.

I have an OM-2S program that's a parts only body...if these parts will work for you I can send this out (just pay shipping)...
Complete body (99%) just missing the battery covers and mirror...damage to the top of the prism (outside body damage, actual prism seems good)

Sam, Thanks for your generous offer. According to the parts manuals at olympus.dementia.org, the 2n and 2s/p prisms have different part numbers. I don't know if that prism would work or not. I am guessing that it wouldn't work.

Anyone know for sure? John H.?

These prisms can be used: OM-1, 1N, 2, 2N, 10, G, 20. All same part, LC4086. Replacement in OM-1 through 2N relatively easy, just make sure back edge of prism is seated properly on the ledge and not sitting crooked. If not seated right, meter needle can hit prism. John
