Just developed a roll of Rollei Retro 100 out of my Mamiya 7. It's available here in Sydney and is cheaper than the others.

Some say it's Agfa APX 100? Might be cheaper but very happy with the results.

It's definitely APX 100. The emulsion was exactly the same when I examined it by liquid chromatography mass spectroscopy.

I like the bright feel with controlled tones a lot.

Thanks. A fairly ordinary shot but I like the 3D look. It's one of those shots you take just to finish the roll 🙂

I'm really enjoying using this film with the Mamiya 7. I have a couple of Retro 400s ready to use as well.

Looks like I should stock up before it's all gone?

The films with the 'S' suffix are in production at the moment, based on aerial-survey films. There are re-formulated versions of APX100 and 400 arriving when the old stock has gone through the market. When Agfa was split up some parts of the company continued to make specialised films and this is being sold on by distributors like Maco or Rollei. You will be able to buy fresh Agfa made film for the foreseeable future. I like the APX100 a lot in 35mm.

I keep typing 'Agfa' because I've slightly lost track of exactly which ex-Agfa company now produces what group of films (aerial survey stock, microfilms etc. etc.) !

Yes; Agfa Gevaert, the company producing the S films, wasn't part of AgfaPhoto. They were one of the subsidiaries split off when Agfa was deconstructed in 2004.

All Retro 80S, 400S and Superpan 200 are from Gevaert production. All existing aerial-survey films.
The Rollei retro 100 TONAL is Maco's own receipt but made in the same factory.

APX 100 / Retro 100 in 120 roll film was already gone in 2006. It's double non-curling coated 100 um material. Rollei-Maco bought the 135 um 35mm version (production 2005 Agfa Photo) APX 100 and put this in 135-36 and on 120 roll film (Efke factory).
The Retro 100/APX 100 is running to an end now. You can get the last 135-36 APX 100/Retro 100 around Eur. 2,-

Due to the fact the production lines of APX (25-100-400) are broken in Leverkusen (Germany) we will never see this film within the old specifications back.

Even Foma has now a big problem to tune in the new T200 (Fomapan Creative 200) film they are trying to reproduce again on the same coating line but a slightly different base material. If you change something in film production it's hard to get the old specs back!
