Can someone please tell me about this film? (I've just got to get away from Fujifilm X100 posts)

Any images from the first batch?

Will it be available in the U.S.?

Adox Pan 400 is going to be an enhanced version of the dead Agfa APX 400. Adox have improved the emulsion (with some help from ex-Agfa people I've heard) and the base material is modernised.

I for one am waiting eagerly for this exciting newcomer. They say that they'll produce APX 100 (ADOX Pan 100 I guess) next. I'm sure these films will be available in U.S. in due time.

I'd be really interested to see that film in some larger formats like 120 and 4x5... even 5x7!

Mablo, the link you gave shows some excellent results!!

Well, well! They're talking 120, 4x5, 5x7 ... verrrry nice! Hope they make some of the 120 in 24 exposure format. Since Kodak dropped it's 24 rolls of Tri-X I'd like a replacement. This could be it.

One can dream. However, has Adox ever made a 220 film? B&W 220 is for the history books, I'm afraid.

I'm guessing by the lack of response that this film isn't available yet. The Adox website says that it will be released Sept/Oct.

One of the Adox guys informed last week that they still need to tweak with the Adox Pan 400 emulsion which was unexpected so the initial launch will be postponed a couple of weeks.

For the Adox Pan 100 they will wait until the old made-by-Agfa APX 100 (and Rollei Retro 100) stock will be cleared out of the shelves. That shouldn't take long.

Are Rollei Retro 100 & 400 in 120 roll film format still in the pipeline anywhere? It's long gone from Freestyle here in the U.S. Although I see that an RFF member is still shooting it in Australia, there is no mention of whether it is still for sale there or anywhere else.

No, not any longer. You can still find it in 135 format but 120 has been gone for more than a year.

Maybe they will make it in 220. There is little left in the b+w 220 film market. All I see is 120 and the number of b+w emulsions has declined over the past couple of years.

There is nothing left in the 220 B&W market. it's a real shame. But I don't think any still making film that will cut it for a third party is set up to cut it. A real shame, 20 shots of 6x7 was great.

What is it that everyone expects of Adox Pan 400? Why use it versus, for example TMY2, or Tri-X? I've not shot an Agfa product for thirty years and that was color slide film.

It has run to an end. Only APX 100 / Retro 100 in 135-36 is still available and maybe for a half year.

However the new Orthopan film Retro 100 TONAL is available in all formats now: 135-36, 30,5m/100ft, 120 roll film, 4x5" and 8x10". This new film has to compete with Acros 100 and Efke 25-50.
In Europe it's offered 0,65 Euroct under the Fuji Acros 100 price.

Efke (from Croatia) will be cheaper but they have sometimes Q.C. issues and it's an old school film of the 50's. It can not be compared to the most modern film Acros 100 at all.
