Hi does anyone know of a camera clinic or techician that specialises in CLA of Rollei 35's based in the UK. Any advice or recommendations would be greatfull accepted
John Lawrence
Well-known
There used to be a chap called John Waller who specialised in Rollei 35s and serviced all mine some years back. I don't know if he still does them, but googling his name and Rollei 35 may prove lucrative?
Alternatively, you could try contacting these people for advice:

Hope this helps,
John

I've used John Wellar before, I bought another Rollei 35 off him about 10 years ago but he seems to have disapeared off the scene

I know he used to service them as a sideline or hobby to his job in the RAF, and the last I heard (some years ago) he told me he was having trouble sourcing parts such as the add on rubber lens hood etc. but I was unaware that he'd stopped or disappeared. A shame as he did good work at a reasonable price.
Maybe the UK Rollei club are aware of another specialist, but failing that it might be worth trying a general repairer with experience in classic cameras such as Newton Ellis:

I seem to remember reading somewhere (camera repair forum on the internet?), that they're one of the easier cameras to work on.

thanks John, I've found a reppair service based in Liverpool, will ring them tomorrow. As for John Waller, his work was exceptional I bought a few things off him, cameras cases etc, and his photographs taken from the back of an RAF C130 were stunning

I can recommend Newton Ellis, although they aren't cheap and their return times can be erratic (though 2-6 weeks usually).
I've dealt with them a number of times over the years and in (er) 1988 they did a very good job overhauling my Rollei 35, which remains in excellent order to this day...

D.

Well the receipt from 1988 says it cost £25.00...
I couldn't say what their likely current price for a Rollei 35 is, but other cameras they've worked on over the last 3 or 4 years have tended to cost me £70-90 for a thorough service, with more if parts are needed.
They would probably give you an estimate over the telephone.
Best of luck,
D.

All part of the service...
I ought to add, since "repairs" and "Rollei" in a thread will attrack owners of TLR's, that the man for Rolleiflew and Rolleicord is Keith Leedham.
That's http://www.klcamerarepairs.co.uk/
I just wanted my pre-war standard Rolleiflex taken back to display condition (screws replaced etc) and he was very fast and reasonable. And going by the price he quoted I would have been very happy if it had been restored to working order.
