Pictures of one man's military service in the 1950s

In keeping with the personal archaeology theme that's going around these days, I came across this set on Flickr of one man's time in the service (I have no connection to this person in any way). It's mostly just snapshots of the man himself, but there are some cool pictures of a few different places, mostly Guam and El Paso, TX. Even if there's not a ton of artistic value to these, it's always neat to see moments from another era, if only to see how much has changed.

Very nice photographs.

That settles it- I have to scan in my Father's pictures from WW-II. I did a few for Nikki's Show and Tell in 2nd grade, for Veterans day. I finally found ONE of my Dad's B-29's that did not have a Naked Woman painted on the Nose. He survived a lot of crash landings, went through a number of planes.

One of the nice things about the military is they take care of you so you have plenty of time to take pictures. My most productive period was while I was in the US Army, just one, not a nice one:

It takes some determination to get right through that flickr stream.

A hell of a lot of standing in front of the camera portraits, leaning on car portraits, arm around my buddy portraits ... interspersed with the occasional interesting pic.

As said ... they appear to have had a lot of spare time! 😀
