Preview

Looks like a nice 14mm F2.5 kit lens.

I was going to complain about the lack of a control dial on the top, but watching a video of the menu system, it doesn't look too bad. A GF2 with the 14mm and 20mm would be a fun and handy camera system to have around.

Might look nice, but I am waiting for a GF1/2 form factor with build in EVF (Not bolted on) as an autofocus RF

Cheers

Wrong direction!
My wife wanted the GF1 and we were holding out for the GF2. Exited we jumped to the preview and are both disappointed about the touch screen interface and loss of manual control buttons.
Ordering a GF1 now.

But now you can simply put your fingers all over the LCD screen and avoid all of the button pressing. Win some, lose some -- I suppose.

Panasonic retreated; leaving Sony NEX 5 as the dominant large format compact in the market.

Until the launch of Fuji X100, it seems like there is nothing else in the horizon to challenge Sony.

What a joke of an camera for the price:
"Price:
GF2-KEB = £599.99 (14-42mm zoom lens kit)
GF2-CEB = £629.99 (14mm pancake lens kit)
GF2-WEB = £729.99 (14-42mm & 14mm twin lens kit)"

Although the size of the GF2 is nice they really have positioned the new camera towards a totally different market than the GF1, which a bummer from my perspective. Of all the small cameras out there the GF1 was a camera that the serious photographer could enjoy with excellent physical controls for key settings. Things like AE Lock were right there where you would expect them.

The video upgrade is nice but, for me, the GF2 is a step in the wrong direction from an enthusiast point of view. For the P&S crowd it's a wonderful option, far more outwardly "friendly" than my GF1.

If you haven't tried a GF1 for a small serious camera you might give it a try before they're gone, it's one of a kind.

agree.

X100 is the only step beyond sony nex

Maybe it's all the iPhone/iPad use, but I keep wanting to use my GF1 as a touch screen.

I think the only thing I'll truly miss is the remote shutter release.

I'll probably pick up one as a backup to my GF1.

A little surprising to me that they didn't start a new naming convention with this camera. Calling it a GF2 doesn't seem to make sense based on the GF1's market. Unless...

There is another camera in the works and the GF series will go this way and the other camera will be more for the enthusiast crowd and the true replacement for the GF1.
