I just got an email from digitaltruth UK store with promotional offers etc, however, what did catch my eye was that they've discontinued LegacyPro 400 (Neopan 400) and apparently can't get any more.... is this the end of LegacyPro 400?

... luckily Fuji branded *real* Neopan is only 15-20% more expensive here in Europe at least ...

I'm having trouble finding the Neopan, though. Both BH Photo and Amazon list it as "temporarily out of stock" and "unavailable" respectively. :(

Digitaltruth in UK offers Rollei Retro 400S instead for a good price. LegacyPro100 is still available there as well.

But 100 is Acros and 400 is Neopan... so two wholly different films.

I wonder how the Retro 400S differs from Retro 400 (no S). I've shot a few rolls of the latter with not so great results...

I heard that Legacy Pro 100 will be discontinued too.
I just ordered 20 rolls, it was an amazing cheap film.

... from memory (I think that I have shot a 100ft roll of Rollei Retro 400S) the film is slightly IR sensitive and clear polyester-based. Also, if memory serves me right, the Rollei Retro400S is originally an AGFA aero-surveillance film, Aviphot something ...

Is agfa APX400 the same as rollei retro 400?

... I think (not sure !!!) yes. I made a small mistake when I ordered the film at that time and ordered the Retro 400S instead of the simple Retro 400 to substitute APX400...

Gabor, have you tried APX100 or Rollei Retro 100 before?

All of this news about film being discontinued makes me nervous! I better stock up on some more XX in 400ft cans while that is still available. I do have 700 ft of Legacy Pro in the freezer as well as 60-70 rolls+ some Neopan Presto 400 ( also 1000-1200 ft of Trix).
I suspect the trick is to forego any new "toys' and invest in film instead.

This has happened several years ago when both B&H and Adorama were out of Neopan 400 for several months. Fuji Pro services explained to me the reason those two retailers were out had to do with the special pricing they got based on their volume. They also told me that everyone but B&H and Adorama had Neopan 400 in stock. He was correct. It may be the same situation all over again.
