hi,
this arrived 2 days ago. the camera is in a user condition with small dings here and there, the vulcanite cover is intact. I shot a roll of xp2 through it and the rangefinder is accurate. The frameline preview lever, self-timer works.
It has m3 buddha lugs, lens release button.
It has m2 preview, back, framelines
It has m1 (?) top plate
your comments on the origin of this camera are most welcomed.
cheers!

Congrats Raytoei, that looks like a cool rig.
Somehow I find it very funny it worked out so nicely for you. The lot of us were telling each other not to touch that 'FrankenLeica' with a ten-foot pole, turns out the camera is fully functional and quite a rare/irregular/collectable? combination of Leica models.
I cannot imagine it left the factory like this, but maybe was brought back to life by a compentent repairman who used whatever parts he had to get the job done? The top plate and the shell remove as two complete pieces, I'm thinking the original M2 in the past had impact damage and busted parts were replaced with whatever was available. Maybe the M2 did leave the factory with an M1 top plate and only the body shell was replaced later.
Guess we'll never know?
Like to see those first shots of yours!

The pics from the second roll came out just fine on this M2F ('F'rankenstein)
M2F with Canon 1.4, film is Ultrafineonline's new C41 film (but is actually XP-2), souped in Rodinal for an hour.
"Next Generation of Apple users"
Heavily cropped and curve adjusted.
"Lisa with Models"
Cropped only.
"To Serve your better"
No adjustments done.
