What is the 35mm equivalent of this lens? Just curious[1.5?]

The first is really nice. For a second there I thought it's too heavy on the foreground, but now I actually think it adds something interesting to the image.

Does anyone know how the Heliar performs against the wide zooms such a Sigma 10-20 or Tokina 11-16 f2.8....?? The main attraction of these mirrorless designs if that, potentially, ANY lens can be made to fit, so for the first time the Heliars are up against some other good performers.

Well, you are somewhat lucky, my friend had his 11-16 on his A330. This is by no mean a test... But it can give you an idea ! I think the 12mm is as good as the others, plus it is amazingly compact !

The advantage of using wide SLR lenses on NEX is that they have a longer registration distance, so you don't have the corner smear and colorshift at the edges that some wide rangefinder lenses have.
The disadvantage to using SLR lenses on NEX is, due to the longer registration distance, adapters are much larger, and the lenses are much larger as well. This largely defeats the purpose of NEX, IMO.

Maybe your friend knows, how 11-16 compares to Sigma 8-16mm?Well, you are somewhat lucky, my friend had his 11-16 on his A330. This is by no mean a test... But it can give you an idea ! I think the 12mm is as good as the others, plus it is amazingly compact !
I wonder IQ from it on NEX too.

Hi Jerry,
He never tried the Sigma 8-16. Although, I use to have the Sigma 12-24mm. The Tokina 11-16 is better in all regards... except it is not FF (but it works on FF at 16mm).

hi angeloks,
nice pics, loved the first one.
was also wondering if you have tried your millenium nikkor on NEX.
The amedeo adapter is on for LTM mount? is there any for M-mount?

The 12 kicks the Zooms BUTT!!!!
The 12 kicks the Zooms BUTT!!!!
It would have been nicer to see the image size the same, but just from what I can see about the two pics, the 12mm CLEARLY is an improvement over the 11-16. The Zoom should have been shot at the same 12mm for control.
However, examining the siding edges all over the house puts the 12 out in front for focus or sharpness.

With my eyes and monitor, I clearly prefer the Sony 11-16 pic (numbered 2048 ...) over the Heliar one (457...)... What gives?

There are some really strange aberrations in that picture.

Great shots! I really love the first and fourth ones, they are very dramatic. I think you have a great eye for capturing good shots. Thanks for sharing them. I am wondering where would be a good place to find reviews for local photographers, Dallas contractorsin specific? I am in need of a photographer for my upcoming wedding, and I need to be very selective about who I hire. Thank you for your input on this.
