I used to do it by posting the URL to the 'insert image' button, but now all I come up with is a question mark box. I'll give an example.

Here is the flickr URL for one of my images

http://www.flickr.com/photos/masperry/4946746903/

Now I'm going to put that in the RFF button, which used to display my image in the forum thread.

Lately that's been all I'm getting. Am I using the wrong URL? The flickr provided HTML code doesn't work either.

Thanks

At your photo in flickr I clicked on Actions and choose View all Sizes. I picked the size I wished to link and then on the image I Right Clicked my mouse, and chose Properties. I highlighted Right clicked and choose to copy the Image Address. Then here I pasted the link here at RFF in the box after I clicked the Insert Image button (mountain and sun) in the quick reply.

thx for this I've asked around RFF previously and never got this tidied up. My only issue is I'm using a Mac at home and I don't have a mouse with right click functions. Any thoughts?

The supported way to do it is to:

1. Go to the picture in flickr
2. Click on the "share this" menu item
3. Click on Grab the HTML/BBCode
4. Select image size
5. Click BBCode
6. Copy the resulting code
7. Paste into message.

There are reasons this is better; flickr ToS requires a URL to the page, and also image replacement may break a direct image link in the future.

Control-click will work in lieu of right click.

thanks Mark, I'll check that out. BTW, I clicked on your two links in your profile for the blog and website and they don't seem to work correctly? I get a "page not found / bad link" notification from flickr on both links.

over the photo in flickr, after going to view all sizes and selecting a size, CTRL Click and select Copy Image address. Paste here. If you have a Magic Mouse or whatever it is called you can Enable Right Click on your machine and the right click will bring up the CTRL Click options. (I just learned this last week).

Ok, the BBcode worked for me. Thanks.

As for the bad URLs on my flickr profile I don't know what was causing that. I fixed it though, and redirected to my new blog, although you have to copy and paste the URL.

Glad I got that figured out. Thanks for the advice guys (or gals)!

BBCode is the way to go.

Also, when using a Mac, hold down the Control key while clicking and you will have a 'right-click'.

There seem to be a few variations that work for some people, not others, and differently on other forums. The designated Flickr way of doing it (Grab HTML/BBCode) doesn't work at all on a couple of forums I post pictures on. The one way that works all the time and never fails on any forum (for me) is the one Rover first suggested, go to the image>Properties>copy URL.

There is something really wrong in the world when I start answering technical questions correctly.

They may block that function. My guess it is them not us as you can post a photo here if you can get the URL for the image.

Press control + Click = "Right click"
You can also connect most windows mouses with a normal right button.
Or get the "magic mouse" witch can be programmed for a similar sensor.
