Have your family/friends ever gotten tired of your camera?

I mean, has a family member or friend you hang out with a lot ever said something like "Dude, leave the camera at home for once"?

Just curious if anyone has gotten this type of comment. I don't have family to go out with so it's always friends, but they're used to seeing me with a camera everywhere I go.

Oh, yeah. My bride of 32 years took only a year of marriage before she finally asked me to stop taking a camera to family events! I was always shooting photos instead of being part of the get-together.

I used to do this to my friends back in the day... now I'd rather enjoy myself when I'm with friends or a woman.

People get annoyed when I slow them down by stopping every so often to take pictures. On the flip side, I can't enjoy their company if I'm always wandering around looking for things to shoot. And I don't take a camera to social events unless someone asks. So I keep my photography and my socializing separate. Both activities are the better for that.

Me: 'Can't really tell without looking at the pictures but you wouldn't let me take them'.

Actual conversation, we had a laugh. On holidays, I leave the camera the one day and bring it the next. And when I do, I take no lip. 😀


EDIT: Oh, and nearly forgot: try shooting your camera around teenage kids. Their barriers are só much lower 😀

I keep both family and photography separate.

Less stress for both parties that way.

Bringing a camera and using it are two completely different things.

Yes, I'm allowed to bring one as I never know when there might be some break in the action or the permissive "nod" is given.
Sadly, more often than not however, the camera bag is never opened.

I hear it from my wife constantly, she will put up with it to some degree when on vacation as she wants the pictures as well. at any other time even if i bring it it likely stays in the bag

If people are getting sick of your camera or of you taking their photos, then you probably need to adjust your technique. I came to this realization recently because my family was starting to show signs of being sick of the camera.

I take my camera with us any time I darn well feel like it. (As long as my wife say it's OK. 😀 😀)

My wife has fibromyalgia, so her patience is not what it used to be. Even so, she doesn't mind if I bring my camera. Only if I try to use it when she wants to keep moving. 😀

My friends know and accept the fact that I will always have a camera with me. I don't always photograph them or everything else around me. Over time I get a feel of how much someone is willing to put up with the camera, some are more open to it than others.

And for friends what hated the camera? Simple, get new friends.

Father in law asked if the M4 was a cellphone, cos i was always carrying it with me
on the other hand they finally ask for my pictures to print/etc because they look better than theirs. GF gets angry when I shoot other people in the streets with she near me.
i have missed great pictures in the past for not carrying a camera, im not planning on this happening again

No problem here. Some years ago I was into collecting cameras and then switched to stereo equipment. Finally my wife said she preferred I collected cameras as they took up less space so bing an obedient husband I did as she asked. As for carrying them, never a problem as long as the glass is not pointed at her.

Luckely my girlfriend is also infected wth the photography-bug. So most of the time we argue about who gets wich camera that day 😎

Not a problem,
with my wife, or her family
I have always had a camera with me from day one (dating on),
so they just believe it is permanently attached to my hand. 😉
They don't even block the lens, or run away

But at delicate events, no, not appropriate.
