Check this out. And to think, we trawl the streets on foot. Foolish us. Ha.

Wow, quite interesting. The Google Eye - and just the beginning...

This is exactly what street photography isn't supposed to be. :bang: What they do, driving around with cameras on cars is even worse than the "street photographer" who sits in an office window with a 700mm lens. It's anonymous, voyeuristic and clearly annoying (the mooning shot is great).

I know that some of us are going to see this series of pictures as a vitriolic comment:
These pictures prove how random street photography can be. If you just shoot a gazillion of pictures randomly, you might even find some hilarious, truly surreal situations on them.
*rushes out to do more street photography* Oh drat, my days are too short, I only have one pair of eyes, and unfortunately, I can't multi-task to operate several cameras at once.

Thanks for the link - this blog makes some very interesting comments indeed ...FWIW, here's a bit of the backstory on the "9 Eyes of Google" along with the locations of some of the photos...

Maybe this is what it IS all about. After all, that's a pretty wide lens in the first place, right?
In all seriousness, what REALLY distinguishes an automatic camera mounted on a car with one of us, on the streets with our Leicas? This is hardly the 700mm lens from an office building.

They were laughing WITH you, not AT you.

We're all light!
Interesting (like most of Google's exploits), but I hardly see this as "killing" street photography, any more than the fact that nearly everyone on the street these days has some sort of "camera" on their person.
Besides, I've gone places Google can't, or won't go. (And, in perhaps one or two cases, wouldn't dare.)
