Hi All!
I though this year, as opposed to starting a thread for each meeting as and when they come up, I thought we'd take a more democratic/holistic approach.
What I propose is that everybody is free to post information and dates of events they think suitable for photographic meets occurring in the North of England.
I'll compile a diary of events and kept it updated. Hopefully that means we'll get to events we haven't been aware of before and people will get for more advance notice.
Let me know if you think this is a good idea.
I await your input...
Bob.

York Historic Pub Tour?
I might have known Stewart!
Well let's add it into the mix. I quite fancy doing York sometime and as this is a daily event we could slot it in whenever suits us.

I think York should be OK, a bit too east perhaps, but good rail connections ... I'll look out for "events"

Not too east for everybody. Although I'm always wary of crossing the border into Yorkshire.
Good list of non-city centre events here if folk want to pick some out.

Unfortunately I can't make the Homing World event and as Marc will confirm I'm quite the pigeon shooter when we're out
Don't ask me why, I just always seem to end up with a shot of them.
We did a visit to the Chinese New Year celebrations last year which; I think proved quite fruitful in terms of shooting. Lots of colour, plenty of characters, dancers etc and the crowds also provide some good pix.
As for the Bacup Nutters, it was a picture of them by photographer Homer Sykes that first got me interested in shooting people and events. I've been to see them a number of times, though not in recent years. They dance through the town on Easter Saturday raising funds and stopping off at a pub or two on the way. Thirsty work, you know!
Though it pulls a fair crowd locally it isn't by any means a large event and last just the morning so may be more suitable for those who are fairly local or perhaps we can combine it with another event.

Another event is the Wartime Weekend held in Ramsbottom on the Bank Holiday weekend in May. People dressed in 1940s clothes, both military and civilian, military vehicles etc makes for some good shooting.

Good point about the Bacup Nutters. There's not really much else to shoot around there really.
