SilverFast Ai and IT8 Targets

It looks like in order to IT8 calibrate Silverfast I have to purchase the AI version with IT8 option. Does anyone know if I can use my own Kodak it8 target for auto calibration? I think they all conform to a standard.

Also, has anyone gone for the IT8 option and had success with colour negative? I can see the IT8 calibration being useful for transparencies/slide film but is it worth it for colour negs?
