Anyone actually seen this film or dealt with this seller?

http://cgi.ebay.com/100-ROLLS-35MM-400-135-24-B-W-FILM-Kodak-BW400CN-ILFORD-/140502735138?pt=US_Camera_Film&hash=item20b69d9922

$1.29 a roll is a good price but I wonder what I would be buying?
As well, the seller has 99.9% positive feedback and offers a money back guarantee in the item description but in the "shipping and payments" section, his return policy is: "The seller will not accept returns for this item."

Tempting, sort of...

The description says bw400cn but one can't be sure.

I purchased a lot of generic c41 bw film a while ago based on the assumption that it was xp2. As far as I can tell, it is!

Since the seller says, "THIS FILM HAS BEEN USED BY NUMEROUS PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS AND THE REVIEWS WERE EXCELLENT!" why not ask him to provide citations/evidence. Or ask if he'll sell a smaller quantity.

IIRC Mitsubishi and Konica also had C-41 BW films which were rather unassuming to downright ugly - so there indeed are some blanks you could draw. However either is gone for years. I never heard that these were licensed on or recently repackaged off old master rolls, so that there should be so few of it around that it would be much smarter to sell it at $10 a roll for rarity rather than dump it cheap with hidden identity.

There will be far more XP2 and BW400CN surplus around. What you buy there is more likely to be one or the other, in expired, rather than a somewhat rare extinct film...

I'd agree with that. The ad is so loaded with buzzwords that one can't tell what is truth and what is hype. Both Kodak and Ilford get liberal mention. If one can take the "Made in USA" as truth, then it is likely surplus BW400CN.

I would like to try out one roll of this film. How can I do this?

The add says: "I AM GIVING A 100% MONEY-BACK SATISFACTION GUARANTEE. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE FILM, PLEASE SEND BACK ALL BUT ONE ROLL FOR A FULL REFUND."

99.9% feedback seems OK, Raid.

It may be what I need for my Egypt trip.

Buy from Freestyle instead, Raid. At least then you'll have some idea of what you're getting.
