Canon FD 1.4 SSC disassembly - I need a bit of help

Hi all,
I found a very nice Canon FD 1.4 SSC lens. Unfortunately there is some oil on the blades and I would like to attempt cleaning it. I found a website that describes the process:

But I'm already stuck at the first part. I can't get the lens ring off. I don't have a rubber wrench, but I have some fairly grippy material that should take it off. But the darn thing is stuck. The instructions say "RH". I assume that means Right Hand Rotation? So if I turn the ring clockwise that should take it off? Or do I understand that wrong?

It is normal rotation. So, Counterclockwise to loosen. The namering comes off with a rubber cork, then you should see spanner slots for the front group. You will get to the aperture blades.

These rings are sometimes quite tight, but I haven't yet met one which I couldn't get loose. You might invest in a proper tool to remove the ring, I think the set I got cost $10 or so. Make sure to have a blower handy to blow out the dust during reassembly. Don't be tempted to open the lens from the rear, there are check balls and springs which are hard to reinstall in the unlikely event that you find them after they pop out.
