Must see in Kuala Lumpur?

Hi guys,

Any one in KL here? I'll be in KL from the 1st to the 3rd April and wonder what are the must see of the city that is photogenic?

I also have to bring along friends who are keen on sightseeing so something unique would be great, or where you can shop for sensibly priced local products (souvenir, clothes, etc.)

I enjoyed walking around the city, there is some nice old architecture & various ethnic districts. Around Masjid Jamek is quite a good place to start, there is a long street nearby that is mostly Indian shops with a cinema & some cafes that look like they haven't been updated since the 1940s. Abdul Rahman?

if you like spicy food, try the "portuguese fish" there at the roadside.

the butterfly garden (no idea whether it is interesting in april, though).
the big mosque (forgot it's name).

The Islamic Art Museum is supposed to be excellent, having travelling exhibits from various international museums as well as its own collection.

Batu Caves is a Hindu holy site - temple within limestone caves. You'll have a steep climb up multiple flights of stairs though.

Little India near Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque) is worth a walk, as is Chinatown in the evening.

If you're not squeamish, how about visiting a wet market where all kinds of fresh fish and meat are sold, there will literally be blood in the streets.

A day trip down to historical Malacca could be interesting too, the port where European colonial powers first came to the Malayan Peninsula. Remnants of Portuguese, Dutch and English influence. 2 hours by car from KL.

spend all your time enjoying the good food in KL. it doesn't end so you will end up adding quite a few kgs to your weight.

How about a trip up the Menara KL. Merdeka Square? It's 13 years since I was in KL though.
