elmarit compatibility with m8

Hi,
I bought a second hand Leica M8 and I wanna buy a 28 mm Elmarit type II for a good price. Do you know if it is compatible with M8?. I say this because the list of codes that I found on the Internet, this model is not listed. Any problem with it?.

Agreed - I had a v2 which I used with both M8 and M9. Worked really well - excellent color, sharpness, and flare resistance.

For lenses of 35/50 mm and longer the six-bit code is only useful for getting them into EXIF. There are no noticable lens-specific in-camera corrections.

I would guess you just code it as a type III (000011) :-

But be aware that the Elmarit is a lens adjusted to film tolerances, which may not be precise enough for an M8/9. Even if it seems to be focussing OK on a film body it may well be that it needs to be recalibrated to M8/9 standards.

Having it adjusted is no big deal for any competent Leica technician.
