I would have guessed that a lot people on RFF were Pigs.

The Pig symbolizes such character traits as diligence, compassion, and generosity. Pigs enjoy life and because they are entertaining, others enjoy their company. Pigs are giving souls and reap much enjoyment when they’re helping others, but sometimes they give too much. Honesty is what Pigs give and it’s what they expect to receive in return.

Pigs seek peace and will do what is necessary to maintain it. This trait, while admirable, sometimes makes it easy for others to take advantage of Pigs. Pigs are always doing for others, helping anyway they can, but rarely will they ask others for help. This can overwhelm and stress them, but Pigs don’t mind.

When it comes to money, Pigs enjoy spending more than saving. They gravitate towards name brand items. Thriftiness happens only occasionally, but Pigs do know how to find great deals.
Of course you have to be using the Chinese Zodiac but:

"When it comes to money, Pigs enjoy spending more than saving. They gravitate towards name brand items. Thriftiness happens only occasionally, but Pigs do know how to find great deals."

seems to sum them up nicely incorporating gasology to a T :D

So who was born in the year of the Pig?

I'm an Aquarius who enjoys wet processing. But wait a minute, didn't our Zodiacal signs just shift recently? I think I may be a Capricorn. You know, like Jesus.

"Average zodiacal sign"

The birth date distribution over a year and the perceived correlation to made up figures in the sky with or without account to the precession and nutation? An what is average referring to?
/H

Help?

Gosh yes! ... could he just be having a laugh?

... but then the creative Pisces seem to be winning, as one would expect ... ignore the unbelievers who'll be posting next, what do they know

Not so simple. There is currently some dispute about what dates should actually be assigned to the signs (and even about what signs should be included):

There are two zodiacs, sidereal (based on the constellations) and tropical (based on seasons - the one in the poll).

Astronomers from the Minnesota Planetarium Society found that because of the moon's gravitational pull on Earth, the sidereal zodiac was off by about a month, and needed a new sign as well:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

So I guess we need a couple of polls, depending on whether RFF members affiliate with the sidereal or tropical zodiac. Then we could figure out if there was any correlation between sidereal/tropical preference and film/digital preference.

In the spirit of shut-in wankery that seems to be on the rise (if these polls are any indication), here are some future subjects for people who never leave the house or actually use their cameras:

• What type of potato chip does a RFF member prefer?
• What is a RFF member's favorite type of elevator?
• The X100 cured my cold/indigestion/astigmatism/cancer!!!!!!!!
• What is a RFF user's shoe size?
• Does the X100 feel better cradled in your left hand or your right hand?
• RFF members: regular or premium gasoline?

...and on and interminably on.

you miss the point. This poll is only for RFF members whose mental age is < 80 and have a life. If you are not in that group you shouldn't be participating.

Signs in western astrology have never been "sidereal" any way because the differ hugely in size.

In the spirit of the recent polls asking RFF members for their objective and subjective ages, here's the logical followup asking them for their zodiacal sign.

Is there a correlation between camera preferences and the zodiac? Is there, for example, a preference of rangefinder users born under Sagittarius? Do film users tend towards Virgo and Aquarius, while digital users prefer Cancer?

Now you too can be no longer part of the problem, but part of the answers to these pressing questions :D

I'm curious, what do you guys do for fun in Kyrgyzstan? I mean beside taking pictures of a camel's eyeball?

;)
