how do YOU code your CV, ZEISS and HEXANON lenses?
or even the adaptors you have attached to your LTM lenses?
a why would be nice also. have you tried different coding on the same lens and thought "oh this looks better"? hm?

My CZ 4/18 and 2.8 25 already had their mount slightly machined by the previous owner. I applied white and black paint to code them. I find white and black paint coding more reliable than black pen coding only.
My CZ 2/50 still has its mount in original condition. I hand-coded it with a pen but it is not permanent.
Two of my CV LTM lenses have Jieying 6bit LTM-M adapters. Those are nice adapters with coding grooves that I painted with black and white paint.
My last CV LTM lens has a CV Type II adapter with a recessed rim. For the time being, I just used a pen but noticed that the coding was not 100% reliable. I don't know whether it is due to parasite light penetrating between the mount and the recessed rim or insufficient contrast between the pen coding and the base mount. I'll recode using black & white paint.

Well-known
I use the LTM adapters with the coding marks machined in, but the newer CV lenses with a groove machined in the mount are also good. In either case it seems to be apparent that with the M8 a Sharpie will work as the black infill, but with the M9 you need to use matt black paint to create a more opaque mark.

Since this is the "Official" thread, I will post my question here. I recently got a Milich adapter for my CV 15, and then I bought some Testor paint. Black, white and red (for the notch to indicate where to mount it).
I used the codes on whimster's page to get the paint in the right place. John definitely sent a 28/90 flange, as the preview indicates. But my M8 is not recognizing the lens? The colors look pretty good to me, so I'm wondering if I am missing a trick.
Okay, update before posting. My wife looked at the adapter and thought the black wasn't black enough, and the white also needed another coat.
Now it works!
