If you’re in a quiet room try this out:
Hold your Leica M9 normally and give it a gentle shake side to side. Do you hear that tiny rattle noise as if there is something is loose inside? I thought it was the shutter button, or the frame-line switcher, but when I held everything that I thought could make the noise, I still heard it when gently shaken. It's coming from inside the top plate- somewhere near the viewfinder?
Mine’s sound like something is loose and I can’t tell if it’s normal.
Should I send it in to Leica? Does anyone else have this or is it just me- I'm going insane!?
What is it?

Yes there is a faint rattle. Does this mean I win and get to the next game level, or is there another task to complete in order to command the Black Orb of Leica Doom? Or do I win a voucher or something? :D

You'd better not ask questions like that next Friday.

No- the answer was here already: It is the mechanical orientation sensor, which consists of a small movable permanent magnet which is read out by a coil.
