I've been using this M7 for about 6 months and I love it. Coming from an M6TTL, the AE is a blessing.

Just curious if the shutter release on these cameras can have the mid-point tension / light meter activation removed or adjusted? Mine seems to be getting a bit grittier or dirty. I'd love it if I could have the thing tuned like an m2/3/4 with the smooth release action.

The only reason I ask is that I've been shooting some paid concert gigs (black and white!) and the extra drag in the release is adding some unwanted blur to my exposures.

Kevin,

The M7 shutter does have an additional tension point when compared to other M's. This is due to the necessity for an exposure lock function. It shouldn't really feel gritty though, but at the same time it won't get as silky smooth as some other M's from my experience. Frankly I no longer notice the difference after using it a while.

On the bright side it's a street shooters dream, one reason mine will be with me a long time... fast fast fast.

Here's a little M7 foible I found the other day, I'll spare you the angst. I set the rear iso dial to DX, just to make sure it worked OK, and loaded some Tri-X. 400 flashed nicely in the finder on power up, works like a charm.

Here's the thing to remember... If you start with a DX reading upon loading you're going to be stuck with it for he roll. I wanted to shoot at 200 after loading, no dice. Changed the iso, turned camera on and off and on again, nope...400.

Just a little thing, frankly I never bumped into it before and probably won't ever again but I thought I'd share. When you get that 50/1.2 Hex back that's going to be one beautiful rig!
