I only like the original black 14 092 G Leica neck strap from the fifties and sixties. It is made from leather of unborn calfs. Extremely soft and smooth. I collect them.

I like to make my own and usually custom fit so that adjusting hardware isn't needed.

A Niggeloh has been my fav strap for over 10 years, on all my cameras.

Yet another vote for the Domke swivel gripper. I have a Wapiti strap on my RD-1s that's nice as well.

Domke swivel gripper.
I don't have an 'M' but I do have a IIIf and my Domke protects the finish and is never twisted.

The Leica strap. I have used the Kamerleder strap, which is leather. It is very nice.

Another vote for the Upstrap. It keeps the camera where it belongs - off the ground.

I agree, I have the same ones, on M2 and M4-2. M5 has a Domke Gripper strap.

A strap that doesn't have those useless levers for frame preview or self-timer.

Different straps for different cameras.
Light camera: A&A Adjustable Cloth or Gordy
Heavier camera: A&A Adjustable Cloth or Gordy with neck pad.
Heavier Yet: Domke Gripper Strap

I like the UPStrap. It doesn't slide off your shoulder. I have several of them. Nothing is more annoying than to have to keep pushing your camera strap back up on your shoulder. While I am shooting I have my camera strap around my neck for a safety cord. If I am not shooting I will often put my camera strap on my shoulder while walking. I continue to grip the camera with my hand but I don't like having it hang around my neck all the time. Jim
The Leica original is really annoying for this reason - it always slips off the shoulder. The non-slip pad does not work. I even have an A&A thick leather strap, narrow, with no shoulder pad that stays on the shoulder better than the Leica original.

Domke non-swivel strap. I always worried about the swivel part coming apart and having the camera go to ground.

So many great options for straps out there. Thank you all for the ideas. I've looked at nearly all of them.
I have the Voigtlander version of one of those A&A 3/4 inch straps on my Bessa R. I wish it were about four inches longer, but otherwise it's a great strap. The Gordy and Upstrap straps look highly functional and well built too. The Domke swivel strap looks good to me and it's quite affordable. The niggeloh straps looks to be a similar style. I may buy one or the other of those for another camera, but for now I bought the Leica standard replacement strap.
Once I've gotten all the lenses I want, I'll treat myself to a premium strap. Several of the A&A straps look truly fine, as do Luigi's straps. He certainly does some stunning work. The rileyg straps are also works of art. The kameraleder strap appeals to me for its simple elegance. Looks comfortable too.
